Then there's the soundtrack-oh my god that soundtrack. U, along with old favorites like Pilotwings, all with fantastic results. Wii U also takes the time to riff on Mario Galaxy and New Super Mario Bros. Melee and Brawl making a welcome return after being absent on the Nintendo 3DS. There are a large number of stages to choose from, with a host of old favorites from Super Smash Bros. on the Wii U, they seem like a bit of a non-starter.įrom the outset, it's striking just how much bigger this version feels. I like the figures themselves, and they're obviously here to stay as Nintendo jumps into the fad started by Skylanders. Whether on the Nintendo 3DS or the Wii U, I've mostly played with that feature turned off so as to avoid having stat boosts muddle up the balance. I don't want to be overly harsh, but I just don't see the customized characters as being that useful in the game itself. I'm sure that there will be plenty of people who will go out of their way to "catch 'em all," as it were, but it's tough for me to see Amiibos has anything more than a disposable novelty. Press the Amiibo to the Wii U's Gamepad, and you will be able to build up the character with stat increases, as well as select from a pool alternative moves.
SUPER SMASH BROS WII U PORTABLE
Wii U, they are a sort of portable USB drive in which customized versions of existing characters can be stored. Wii U's stranger features is its support for Amiibos-small figurines based on Nintendo characters containing a chip capable of storing gameplay date. It not only restores the solo modes so sorely missed in the Nintendo 3DS version, but expands on them while adding a host of unique content besides. I don't mean to disparage the Nintendo 3DS version, which after all I liked very much back in September, but this is the version of Super Smash Bros. Was it only a year ago that people were touting the Nintendo 3DS as the primary platform for this generation's version of Super Smash Bros.? How quickly things can change.
